Our school curriculum has placed great emphasis on children asking good questions and exploring their learning further. How we teach has been adapted to help develop children’s independence and their ability to research for themselves in order to find out facts and information. Teachers and staff help facilitate this learning pathway but a pupil led approach is encouraged.
Our School Vision
"To be the best that you can be"
We aim to ensure that every child can “be the best that they can be” through a creative, ambitious and bespoke curriculum that meets the needs and interests of the children at Leeming and Londonderry Community Primary School.
By providing stimulating and exciting learning experiences, the curriculum will be enriched and memorable, enabling our children to love learning and therefore live life in all its fullness.
Children will develop a wealth of skills, knowledge and understanding that enables them to become valued members of our community and be ready for the ever-changing and diverse world in which we live. We will develop outward looking pupils who have the tools to communicate effectively and have a strong understanding of themselves, the wider community and the wider world.
Through our curriculum we intend our children to be:
Inquisitive
Kind
We work hard to encourage children to “be the best that they can be” but also to help others be their best too. We encourage and model kindness and consideration for others. Our curriculum is designed to develop empathy and understanding for others in our school community, our local community and in the wider world.
Resilient
We regularly provide children with challenge to help them learn and grow. We encourage children to keep going even when they feel like giving up. We model that it is OK to make mistakes and that this is part of the learning process. We give them the tools to bounce back and keep going. Because of this ethos we develop children who are confident and willing to give anything a try!
